PAILLARD, MANUFACTURER OF STANDARD AND BESPOKE AXLES SINCE 1898

A company on a human scale, constantly seeking new solutions and high performance: PAILLARD has been designing, in partnership with its customers, and supplying suspension systems for nearly 125 years.

Paillard is born

The PAILLARD Company is founded in Vincennes, near Paris, by André PAILLARD, and makes its name in the field of brakes for horse-drawn vehicles

1918-1945
Between the wars
After the first world war, the company starts to manufacture brakes for heavy goods and military vehicles
1945

After the Second World War, the company gradually abandons the HGV market, specialising in brake manufacture and turning to material handling.
1960
PAILLARD enters the light trailer axle market

The company, while retaining its military and material handling operations, moves into light trailer axle markets (caravans, compressors, generators, horse trailers, boat, and utility trailers).
1962
PAILLARD, leading producer of electric caravan brakes
Marguerite PAILLARD takes over and restructures the company. PAILLARD becomes the leading producer of electric brakes for caravans.
1972
Temporary relocation
The company is expropriated from rue Daumesnil in Vincennes (94) and moves temporarily to 37 rue de Strasbourg in Vincennes (94) while waiting for the construction of a new factory in Melun - Vaux-le-Pénil (77).
1977
The company moves permanently to Vaux-le-Pénil
1984
Merri PAILLARD is appointed CEO
1990
PAILLARD goes into partnership with KNOTT

(Germany), with whom it significantly expands activities in the road transport.

1991
LAROSE DIFFUSION
Merri PAILLARD and Alain FAURIE buy LAROSE DIFFUSION (trailer spare parts distribution company, located in Vierzon).
2004
Alain FAURIE takes over the company, which becomes PAILLARD SAS
2004-2012
Development of industrial activity
Alain FAURIE greatly develops operations in the industrial sector, a field in which PAILLARD has acquired considerable experience throughout its history, making it today's leading French company in steering axles (except for cars and trucks).
2012
Launch of a motorised axle for hydraulic assistance on agricultural, public works and road trailers

PAILLARD launches an innovative motorised axle for hydraulic assistance on agricultural, public works and road trailers. The CICLAD fund takes over the PAILLARD group. Guillaume BELS replaces Alain FAURIE at the head of the company

Didier SCHIEBER, new CEO
Didier Schieber takes over as head of the company. Production of the first axles for the Indian market.

Flexible LEAN unit
Introduction of a flexible LEAN unit to reduce axle production times for industrial customers.
2020
PAILLARD expands
The health crisis hits the French economy, which slows down sharply. PAILLARD takes this opportunity to develop new applications: suspended drive wheel for agricultural machinery, air-suspension axles for road trailers, light tractor steering axles, to break into new markets...
2021
Robotisation
Commissioning of a YASKAWA Jigless welding robot that makes processes faster and more reliable. Launch of the PAILLARD 2024 progress initiative, with the ambition of developing new products and boosting productivity.

2022
Export business
Continued export growth, particularly to Denmark. First contracts for the new 'light' industrial axle.
